Mumbai 5th in the LGCT GP of Doha!
At the beginning of last month, the time had finally come: the start of the new season of the Longines Global Champions Tour. As in previous years, the first competition of the season took place in the sunny Al Shaqab in Doha and one of the combinations that appeared at the start was the German rider Christian Kukuk with the grey stallion Mumbai, a son of Diamant de Semilly and Nabab de Rêve from the breeding of BVBA De Moerhoeve. After Kukuk and Mumbai managed to win the CSI5* World Cup in Riyadh in December, they again delivered a fantastic performance in the oil state. In the CSI5* LGCT GP the duo jumped a strong first round and were one of the 7 combinations that managed to qualify for the jump-off. They eventually had to settle for a 5th place after a pole rolled out of the cups in that jump-off.
On American soil, the Irish rider Conor Swail has been in the spotlight again in recent weeks with Koss Van Heiste, a son of Breemeersen Adorado and PKZ Contact van de Heffinck, who was bred by Patrick Gillis. Swail and Koss Van Heiste started at the national show of Ocala where they jumped to a 2nd and a 5th place in both Grand Prix's.
A few kilometers away, at the Wellington Winter Equestrian Festival, the American lady rider Vanessa Hood managed to classify herself twice again with the mare Lou Lou VLS (Elvis Ter Putte x Erco Van 't Roosakker - B: Geert Van Loo-Soenens). After their good performances in the past months, they became 2nd during week 9 and 4th during week 10, each time at 1.40m level. For the Brazilian rider Rodrigo Pessoa there was an 8th place at the Winter Equestrian Festival with the 6-year-old mare Patience van den Dries (Thunder van de Zuuthoeve x Darco), who was bred by Sofie Van Aken.
