Due to the disappearance of the World Cup Season, the competition planning at many stables this season looked slightly different than in recent years. For example, many riders traveled to the United States the last months to prepare their season at the 12-week during Wellington Winter Equestrian Festival in Florida. Also some Woodland's references immediately started their new year strong here!

The American lady rider Vanessa Hood was immediately placed three times with Lou Lou VLS (Elvis Ter Putte x Erco Van 't Roosakker - B: Geert Van Loo-Soenens). After Hood and Lou Lou VLS already finished 5th during the first week and 7th during the second week, their highlight followed during the 3rd week with a victory in a 1.40m class. Besides Lou Lou VLS, also the Irish rider Conon Swail managed to secure another victory with the grey Koss van Heiste (Breemeersen Adorado x PKZ Contact van de Heffinck - B: Patrick Gillis). After the duo had already had a strong month in October with 6 placings at the Sunshine Tour of Vejer de la Frontera and the Champions Tour of Vilamoura, they also won a 1.40m class in Wellington. Last month we also got the debut of Maxx de Nyze Z (Mr. Blue x Heartbreaker - B: Danny Nijs) under the saddle of the American lady rider Paris Ann Sellon. The new duo seemed to be well atuned to each other and immediately jumped to a 4th place in a 1.40m class.

On European soil, we were looking forward to the start of the various tours in Spain over the past month. Olivier Philippaerts, for example, competed at the Mediterranean Equestrian Tour of Oliva for the first time with Mr Uno-K Van 't Kattenheye (Numero Uno x Kannan - B: Tony Raman and Mieke Strobbe), who in recent months appeared in the ring with brother Nicola. Olivier and Mr Uno-K Van 't Kattenheye started their careers together excellently and immediately jumped to a 2nd place in a 1.40m class and a 7th place in a 1.45m class. In Oliva, Mumbai (Diamant de Semilly x Nabab de Rêve - B: De Moerhoeve BVBA) also appeared at the start again with his German rider Christian Kukuk. After their victory in the CSI5* World Cup in Riyadh last month, they came out strong again this time, finishing 6th in the CSI3* GP and 5th in a 1.45m Longines Ranking class. Jamaico van de Hazahoeve (Berlin x Clinton - B: Marnix Haverbeke) was also placed a few times in Oliva. Under the saddle of the Argentinian rider Marcelino Berretta Salcedo, Jaimaico van de Hazahoeve won a 1.25m class while also finishing 2nd and 9th. At the CES Valenca Tour, Mike Van Belle managed to classify himself twice with Scendor Z (Hunter's Scendro x Contendro I - B: Niels de Bruijn). In the classes for the 5-year-old horses they became 2nd and 8th.

Finally, last month in Sentower Park, Opglabbeek there was also an 8th place for Lander de Bruyn with Jackson Billy du Seigneur (Curby du Seigneur x Schilling - B: Marc Vanlangendonck / La Ferme du Seigneur) in a class for 5- and 6-year-old horses. Tim Prouvé, on his turn, finished 10th with Echos Son Z (Echo Van 't Spieveld x Nabab de Rêve - B: Niels Bruynseels) in a 1.40m class.
